Default Need Help Diagnosing a Problem

Ok I have a pretty good idea as to what it is but want a bit more clarification before I go drop $$ on a part.

On the way to work this morning I was driving along and suddenly I stopped pulling and my rpms and speed revved up. I let off the gas and they drop back down and then I started pulling again. It kept happening over and over until finally it would not pull at all. I pulled over and tried every gear with no sucess. My speed and rpms would o up but the car would not move. I belive that it is my clutch(God I hope so) and the other prob could be the tranny(if it is this I am screwed) Guys any ideas?

Also, if it is the clutch can I just replace the disk and not the whole thing??

If you mean the car went into gear and all that would happen is the speed goes up then you have a VERY serious problem on your hands. If the clutch is bad then the car would probably not go into gear and even if it would the speed would not increase with the RPMS. It is probably either an axle problem or maybe differential. Does it make any bad sounds when you put the car in gear and let the clutch out? ie, grinding whining.
