i was planning on doing a lsvetc build so i bought a b16 long block for a really good price. i also bought eagle rods and arias pistons. a guy i work with has a ls crank that he will sell me for like 50 bucks. wouldnt that setup be just as good as a lsvtec setup if not better?

the ls crank will fit into the b16 block, but you will need to get custom rods for the setup.

This is because the deck height is different between the b16 and the b18a/b. You are essentially making a stroker motor; for ease of parts availability - getting of the shelf parts rather than getting custom parts made and waiting long lead times -your best bet would be to get a b18 block if you want to have a stroke of 89mm (stock ls stroke).

The B16A block has a lower deck height than a B18 block. The B16B (CTR) block would work since it is the same as the GSR and ITR block.
