Whining noise
Greetings all,
Today I noticed a squealing noise from my car when I accelerate up until third gear. I replaced the alternator belt about 2 months ago and this is the first time I have heard this noise. I am assuming it is the alternator belt. Should I tighten it? Also, I pulled all of the a/c stuff out a few days ago and then the LED starting blinking code 14, which is iacv. I cleaned the iacv out and reinstalled it. If I pull the hazard fuse and turn the key I get only code 10 (intake air temp, which I have always gotten), as soon as I put fuse back I get code 10 and code 14. Should I replaced the iacv? Thanks alot!

Yeah if you just changed the belt it may be it bit loose. if you push on the belt (inbetween the 2 pulleys) it should only deflect 9-11 mm/ 0.35-0.43 inches
When you pull the hazard fuse do you leave it out for 10 seconds?
If cleaning the IACV didnt work maybe wiring is the culprit.
also a code can get stuck in the ecu if its on it long enough

The belt is a few months old. I will tightened today. I do leave the hazard fuse out for 10 seconds. Once, I accidentally turned the key while the fuse was out and I noticed that the car only threw a code 10 but when I put the fuse in it threw a code 10 AND a code 14. The EACV is spotless. I am trying to find a multimeter and I will check the wiring and get back to you. Thanks for the advice.

make sure you have the correct connectors plugged into the IAT (code 10) and EACV (code 14) - the IAT has 2-wire connector with red/yellow and green/white wires - the EACV has 2-wire connector with blue/yellow and black/yellow wires - if it was/is DPFI it also has another 2-wire connector for the tandem control valve which has orange and black/yellow wires - all of these connectors be plugged into the wrong sensors

Whoops, I thought that was a Virgin Islands plate, yours looks exactly the same as the VI one. Also, my high beam signal light won't work. My high beams work but not the little blue light. It quit working before and I think I changed a fuse and fixed it, but the previous time, the clock and interior light were both out. Now, just the high beam signal. What gives? Thanks

Guys,
One more thing, I'm changing my oil tomorrow, amongst other things, and I need to know how much oil to use and the best type. I have a 90 crx dx and according to the helms manual I should use 3.2 quarts. Is this correct and what is the best oil to use? Thanks for all the help, I am a carpenter by trade and I am just now getting into maintaining my car.

jlicrx,
thanks man, you hit the nail on the head. the connectors were mismatched. I corrected that problem, pulled the hazard fuse. i replaced the fuse, and checked it and the CEL went away. I changed the oil and cranked it back up and the CEL is back. Just a code 10 this time. I pulled the IAT and the tip of it looks a little charred/melted. Now I just have to find one of these and I should be good to go.
