2002 thru 2006 there was a championship payout.

It was sponsored by XBOX - It was I think about $110K total split between the Pro Classes.

We were not able to secure a championship sponsorship for 2007 and not yet for 2008. We however never stop marketing and trying to improve the series for the benefit of all involved.

We do however pay out per event:

PRO PAYOUTS
8 events total payout- $214,800

SPORTSMAN PAYOUTS
10 events total payout - $71,300

I believe this is considerably more than anyone in this market and we announced increased Sportsman payouts for Sportsman only events just today.

So are you expecting a list of all income and expences for the entire year?

Also should I make an estimate on the events yet to happen a good guess on event income considering the most like weather that will occur in that area on event weekend. Should I include estimated tax for each event or more of a overall like tax percentage. Are you interested in Drag only or should I include Drift Events and the NOPI NATIONALS. It might take me a little while to total up all marketing, venue costs, equipment rentals, transportation, staff, Payouts, staging, TV Production and snacks.

My point is... answering such a broad question would be difficult and this is not the place to discuss company finances.

Believe it or not, we do absolutly everything possible to have successful events, give back to the particiants financially through payouts and continuus series and participant promotions.

You guys chose to have events in the east.
.

so you use the money from the title sponsor for taxes.?

. Are you interested in Drag only ??? YES This is a drag forum

or should I include Drift Events and the NOPI NATIONALS you guys use the money for other events.??

. It might take me a little while to total up all marketing, venue costs, equipment rentals, transportation, staff, Payouts, staging, TV Production and snacks. you guys combined this is not your first race.

My point is... answering such a broad question would be difficult and this is not the place to discuss company finances. we dont want comapny fiances few of use wonder where the title money goes ?? NHRA did it and you guys got the titel sposner last minute what if you didnt get it less pay out.?

this really isnt fair. teams are out there busting their *** at home to race and also at the track trying to accumulate points for what? a handshake and a "good job". so another question whats the point on having points races and non point races if there is no payout? are you still hoping a sponsor will come along? i mean im not trying to bash on nopi but this is something that needs to be cleared up. WE WANT TO RACE WITH YOU.

I'm sure the cost is quite expensive to rent each track and the staff for the weekends of the events. I would imagine most of the title sponsorship money goes towards that.

i knew for sportsman there werent going to be payouts for a championship..But im still trying to make as much races as i can to try and win the championship.I know no money sucks but just to be a class champion would be a good feeling and seems worth it.Plus it looks good for current/future sponsors

Winning the championship is not always about the money. It's nice to have it as a bonus, but winning a championship makes you look good, especially if you are trying to sell yourself for sponsorship. When you can say "I won the championship last year" to a marketing director of a company, the chance of you going somewhere is greater. Just my opinion.

Good point if you are close in the points lead but it seems there is no incentive for the guys that are a few spots back to invest X dollars to travel as far as Colorado. I thought about it and even though you are looking for sponsers etc, with no end of year payout it has to be a tough decision to make it to those events that are far from home.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate NOPI, I've travelled to GA, FL, NJ, raced at ETOWN etc but you can't help but wonder where things are headed....

NOPI may not have a championship fund but they have a higher event payout and payout more spots. BOTI event win may not even cover the cost of truck fuel to get there. The PRO FWD payout is only $1000 to win for 1-4 cars and $1200 for 5-8 cars. It costs most teams over $1700/pass. Their year end championship is $5000.00 and a Garret bonus of $1500 (I think).
If you are racing for money than you are in the wrong sport. Better figure out how to bracket race or NHRA/IHRA sportsman race where the contingency exceeds the purse.
There are worse things to spends your money on than cars. Is the reason so many west-coast folks complain about NOPI being predominately on the East is because they really want to run a NOPI event? You have BOTI which is great because they really cater to the sportsman racer on the west-coast. The money these guys commit to the racers is a BONUS, and racing is a priveledge, just be happy you have a place to go

my personal opinion is, if nhra had the sony deal with payouts, as well as doing all of 2007 for free, why wouldn't nopi offer it as well....

as nopi, it can definitely hold its own as a series. we all know it. i figured sony was a bonus...... so why does the racer have to suffer a series without champ payouts? Julie, i understand where you are coming from as a mediator for the matco/csi team, however some other pro cars do not have the type of backing you do....

this is not a vs. thread. we all know nopi is holding it down, there the best sport compact has to offer at this time, which to me is not good enough. i could care less about that..... as a predominated sport compact series, a title sponsor which nhra had with payouts and championship bonus, tell me what the difference is between the 2?
looks to me that the cut wasn't worth the stretch.

p.s. i hate to stir the pot, but dont you think we should deserve a little more then that?

this is MY PERSONAL OPINION, and no one elses.

i'd be curious to see the break down of that....i always wondered about that sort of stuff on the pro cars.

I don't know the full extent of the Sony deal and am only slightly privy to the Xobx deal. I can honestly say I am sure that the Sony program (money) comes no where close to Xbox's investment. Sometimes there is more to these things than money like exposure, product bonuses for participants, gift cards, entry into a new market to entice more fans...
Neither NOPI or BOTI had to commit to having pro classes. I guess you have to pick your choices 1. a year end bonus and event pay out to only two spots or 2. pay back to the semi-finals where more money is given to more people.
NOPI probably could have gone on to have car shows and drift racing only, and BOTI delivered an opportunity for the pro racers to compete on very short notice and they pay what they can.
What everyone needs to truly concentrate on is the contingency from the sponsors and how to grow that for both sanctionings. This is where you can "earn your keep". All of us have to prove that sport compact drag racing is alive and well and that we do purchase/use their product with proof. From speaking with the vendors this is something they need to be shown again.
Give the sanctioing bodies some time to catch up, with NHRA handing over the reigns so late in the game it was difficult to get companies on board on such short notice and most budgets are set by the fall of the previous year.
I haven't been to a BOTI event this year but I can honestly say that despite the weather NOPI has had some of the best attendance I have witnessed in years. These numbers are what draws sponsors and more sponsors means more money for the racers - I hope
