Default LS VTEC CAM OPINION: BUDDY CLUB OR BRIAN CROWER CAMS

Just need to know if anyone has any experience with these cams:

Buddy club spec 4 or Brian crower stage 3

I have a Ls Vtec with:

b16 head with 3 angle valve job.
skunk 2 intake manifold
jdm type r headers

b18a bottom end with jdm b16 p30 pistons.

The car is going to be daily driven.

i think the bc4's are probably better for a 1.8. b.crower 3's are pretty big

Why are you limiting yourself to those two options only? My roomate had the B. Crower stage 2's and neither one of us were very impressed with his numbers. If he wants to chime in he can, thats all I'll say about his particular situation. He's since switched to S2S2's.

If it has to be one of those 2, I'd go with the BCs, but I'm sure if you don't mind getting something else you can end up with a better cam.

every set up responds differently. i have 0012's in my lsv at they make good power. its funny that ur roomy changed to s2s2's, bcuz there specs are very close in terms of lift and duration when compared to the 0012's

What do you mean? Those cams work. Pro1 or 2 will work pretty well. The 2s will be a bit high strung.

"Spec" wise maybe, but there are more to camshafts than just duration/lift "#'s."

very true, but i have all of the specs documented from both cams (0012 and s2s2). btdc, abdc, lobe center, lift and duration for both the intake and exhaust. most stg.2 cams are similar, just like these 2 are. i dyno next week so we'll see if the 0012's work. but from the street tune, the motor makes good power with untouched timing maps. strictly a/f

you can also try s2s2.. very easy to get ahold of, easy on the valvetrain, and most tuners know what to do with them. crower II's are smaller than these

I think most people over cam there engines trying to chase those magic dyno numbers,After a long chat with Clean Rice today there seems to be lots of misinformation regarding cams and setups. There are some very good cams around that make good solid mid range power but most guys still look at peak numbers and whatever is the flavour of the month cam.I am sponsored by Buddyclub here in Australia and I sell and use Buddyclub/Rocket/Skunk2/Toda cams and any other that makes the customers setup just a little better for his/her needs.Sorry for the rant but just my 2cents worth.
Regards Dyno Dave

once again, opinion not fact. one has had no 1st hand experience with probably any of the products mentioned (s2, bc, b.crow) yet knows which cam is superior and inferior. simply amazing
