D16Y8 in a 98/99 Civic.

Burnt the distributor the other night (what the guy said when i broke down)
Installed new distributor.
I drive, then car breaks down again.
So we figured timing was off.
Adjusted timing, car drives fine.
Then, just my luck, car engine shuts off when stopped at a light. Not every light, just certain stops.
Also, it's hard to go pass 2500 RPM when I'm accelerating. I don't know to fix cars much...but I'm willing to try. Can someone please help me?

Oh and one more thing, the guy at Tire Kingdom adjusted the idling cable thing...
