Supercharger Install gone Awry
Im faced with quite a conundrum.
I've been working on my supercharger install all weekend for my 95 GSR, and today, I ran into a BIG problem.
There are 4 holes on the JR intake manifold where u put in 6mm allen bolts thru it and they line up to the supercharger underneath to bolt it in place and have a firm seal.
Well I was able to get the top right corner in perfectly. Then the top left corner only went in halfway, so i thought to myself, oh its just slightly askew, it'll straighten out when I get the other ones in.
So i put in the other bolts, and i think their screwed in, but u cant see because u have to reach into the manifold with the allen screw held on with some grease on the allen wrench, and u just tighten until its tight so i dont know if the same thing happened or not.
Well all the other screws were tightened down, the one on the top left corner wouldnt go down more than halfway.
It was easy screwing, then just stopped halfway down and is extremely hard to turn, but wont go anywhere no matter how much i turn it. I can pull it back out tho by turning the other way.
Well it looks to me like I have something wrong with the thread in my supercharger.
It is all cast metal, so i dont know what my options are.
Is the only thing I can have done is to get the thread redrilled a lil bit bigger, and get a lil bit bigger hole drilled into my intake manifold by a machine shop, or is there any other suggestions on what to do?
i bought this kit used off of someone a few months ago, and have spent all my time putting together other things i needed like fuel pump and gauges and stuff and now I finally had 4 days off of work to do the install, and i run into this trouble.
argh!!!, maybe i just need to vent.
well anyways, tommorow im taking the JR manifold and charger out and seeing it out of the car to see if there's anyway to make it work.
Any suggestions on what to do with the supercharger and the thread would be great.

you can thread it the same size, just get a tap of that same pitch/size and put it in. I just had to drill out a stud from my turbo manny and was able to thread it the same size.
It's possible that the previous owner busted the bolt when he/she removed it. Those bolts require loctite and the JRSC just bakes that stuff on there. Those bolts were EXTREMELY hard to remove from my setup.
You're not gonna wanna hear this, but you need to drop the charger and inspect. If the holes are ok (ie, there are no busted bolts inside there), you might be ok with just recutting the threads with the proper tap. I did this when I dropped my charger to install the 8psi pulley. It made reinstalling the bolts a lot easier.

You're not gonna wanna hear this, but you need to drop the charger and inspect. If the holes are ok (ie, there are no busted bolts inside there), you might be ok with just recutting the threads with the proper tap. I did this when I dropped my charger to install the 8psi pulley. It made reinstalling the bolts a lot easier.
