Default Anyone notice a 3rd gear clutch slip, STOCK S2K?

Just bought an '04 w/ 18K miles. Stock and pampered. I notice that when I really get on it and shift quickly to third, the RPM "hangs" as it feels like the clutch is trying to hold on. Anyone else notice this? Is this the valve that controls clutch release? Or do these cars have pretty weak OEM clutch discs/plates? TIA...

I'm in CT, but bought the car from an older gentlemen down in FL.

And yes, it's an '04 so no DBW.

oh yeah my bad o_o; didnt look in which year DBW came...

are u clutch dumping it completely and it still lags? or your foot resting on the clutch pedal gently, cuz engagement point for the s2k is higher than any honda i've ever driven. just throwing that out there since your baby is still a baby.

Im pretty sure its your clutch delay valve. If you want to make sure get an ap1 slave cylinder. Then go and get on it hard with quik shifts.

Your logic sounds correct. AP1's did not have the delay? That's good news...

Correct. MY04 was the first year for the CDV in an effort to help protect the rear diff. from shock. Some people will remove the CDV or replace the slave cylinder with one from a MY00-MY03.

Personally, after driving my 2004 for four years now, am quite used to it and have learned how to shift accordingly in the car (and still shift quickly).

Anyone have a write up or diagram of this part? I would assume that it's mounted somewhere inside of the master clutch cylinder? Maybe in the slave? TIA...

CDV for the loss!

AP1 slave cylinder. I think you can also remove your CDV with a dental pick or something.
