So I bought my Nitto NT555 255/40/17 tires 2 months ago and they are already balded bad. I have not spun the tires 1 time. Dont drive to hard either, but the tread is gone. Nitto has dissapointed me. I have to drive 30mph in the rain anywhere. Any help guys please. I need new tires on my back same size. Im looking at these Kumho Ecsta ASX, I dont know I dont wanna spend more really than $130 per tire. I want some tires that will last me a while. Help please and thank you.

did they have inner or center section wear? are they wore down uniformly?

a very good buy for the re50 replacement is the sumitomo z3, it's rated slightly better than the oem replacement at 100 a pop

 

asx sucks, i have the supposely better spt and they are terrible at the track.

they are great around street and in the rain, i guess it's fine for dd but if you drive aggressive then no, get something better.

spt also wore down pretty fast for its TW rating

 

kumho asx's wont last you much longer either. they are the worst tires i have ever owned.

That's crazy. I have never had a set wear that quickly.

I have the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW2 but, that would be overkill for you it seems.

he doesn't drive hard, it's dd and mx will not last more than 15k normally

Have these on my S too.. Very happy w/ the purchase, but I did notice that it did have a bit of tire flex on the twisties.. other than that, its a good overall tire..

yokahama prada spec II's have a 300 treadwear rating........i have em on the front of my S, they are decent, good for DD don't wear fast at all.

 

wear ratings can only be compared within a manufacturer.

A yokohama 300 is unline ANY other 300 on ANY other manufacturer.

So a Yokohama 300 could mean a 15000 mile tire or a 1000000 mile tire if you dont know how to compare it.

Compare the yokohama 300 to another yokohama that has a mileage warranty to see where the 300 stands.

Parada spec2s suck, though.

Nobody else besides me and one other person thinks that wearing out tires in 2months MAY have something to do with an alignment?

The hardest compound tire in the world may wear out in a few more months if the alignment is that bad.

8-10k miles most on rears. when I am on R-comps 2k if I'm lucky. Its just how they wear.

but there isn't a tire that's good on track that is going to last long at all. if you went through tires in 2 months...with no track time or burn-outs... then you have alignment issues bad. or you are just drifting the shti out of your car and not admitting it.

if your not going to go on track, get something with atleast a 400 wear rating if you want them to last a decent amount of time. my tires are khumho mx's and have a 200 wear rating. they've lasted a year (10k) and were under 100$ a piece for stock size. they seem about halfway down right now.

That's odd...My RE-01 R rears have 7k miles on them, and plenty of tread life left...

Yeah...my tires went for a while also. I figure I would get around 15k out of them if I didn't track them.

Anyway, the OP hasn't replied. He probably remembered to get an alignment and was embarassed of this thread.

All I got was 8K out of the stock RE-050's and another 9K out of BFG KD's on the rear. Getting ready to install new KDW's on the rear...we'll see what I net with them. I guess I am harder on them at the track and auto x than i thought.
