tire question
I think that is a tire made of rubber and synthetic materials.
You have to tell us what you want out of a tire. Would you rather have more grip, reliability, wet weather traction? Be specific.

i am looking for a tire that provides excellent dry weather traction and a decent amount of wet weather traction. right now i have the so3s on my car and i'm looking for a tire that is easier on the wallet.
kuhmo 712's I can back up as a good street tire. grips like hell wet or dry. My mother ( LEES Z ) toke them around summit and told me not to put on her slicks cause she liked them so much. 307 rear wheel HP in her car
I must be missing something. Why are we discussing street tires in the Road Racing forum?

Yeah it is kind of off topic but, I don't blame him for starting this thread here. Any other forum and it probably just would have turned into a flamewar or he would have been given misinformation.[/QUOTE]
which is exactly why i asked the question in this forum.
Not terribly off topic. Lots of people use street tires for auto-x, track schools, etc. I do.
Unless you autocross/track your car, I'd stay away from the Azenis. They roar like a semi, are not fantastic in the rain, follow road irregularities like a blood hound, wear really quickly, and holy crap are they heavy! Not the best choice for a street tire, but at least they are inexpensive. Which is good, because if you get 10,000 miles out of them of *just street driving* (no auto-x, not track schools), I'll be surprised.

Pirelli p700z...
$51 per tire, and does a great job for what it is.

Are you the tire thread topic ****? You blow.
I'll also add that you pretty much seem to be all alone with your "policing." What's your point? I'd far more trust the advice I receive on tires in this forum than in the "EG+ Civic/del Sol" forum. That place is pretty "wiggety whack" when it comest to getting good solid information. And so are you.

the price really got my attention and the reviews on tirerack.com were fairly good. i might as well give
them a shot TR has them on sale for $184.

One thing you should check with TR is the DOT dates of the tires that they have on sale. If they are more than 18 months old they may not be in top condition. Check the tires very carefully when they arrive - look for cracks in the sidewalls - and don't sign for them until you have inspected them. That is the advice I got from the tire tech guy for the Silver State Classic open road race that I ran in May. The person I dealt with at TR was DAN-EXT. 294 and he was incredibily helpful.
The Pirelli's certainly sound a good deal.

The oval stamp on one side next to the bead has the alphanumeric mfr. code and production date. The 3rd and 2nd to last numbers are the week (1-52) and the last is the year (2-'02, etc) of manufacture. Use your own judgement if they're more than 10 yrs. old.
Within 2 years should be fine if stored properly (nice cool warehouse vs. burnt out window display).
