hey guys, i swaped a b18b into my 92 hatch about months ago and ive been breaking it in because it was rebuilt...i was wondering what i should do to it first??? im going to get my ecu tuned because it runs a little weird, especially when i start it up in the mornings, it would idle down to 0 and back up to 1.5, 2...

 

This question is very broad, although you seem very excited to just get your engine in. There are three routes you can take: Build it all motor, Turbo it, or throw on an super charger. Build it according to which route you plan on taking otherwise you'll end up chasing your tail replacing the same parts over and over...

a shop manual, having to ask this question is a bad sign.

you should never have to ask anyone what to do with our own vehicle..

 

If I were you I would sit down and think about how much money I want to put it this car. Since you swapped the engine I say you already put anywhere from 700 to 1000 already. do you want to put an additional 1200 and boost it. or do you want to save up some more and do an all motor build. its all on you

 

It would be pointless to do a all motor build on a b18a/b. Just turbo it already.

 

I'd have to agree, turbo would be ideal for getting the most ponies for the dollar

 

ok i've decided to go ls turbo, but i heard you have to build up the motor a bit before i turbo it so it'll be more reliable, i dont know much yet but im a beginner trying to learn by reading these posts and mags...so if anyone that has past experience on this please share with me, i want to learn...

 

I would just do rods, pistons and bearings and wouldn't touch the head...then slap a snail on it

 

What would you recommend to do to an LS if you life in California?
