Default 95 GSR

Hey everyone i recently just got my first 95 GSR. it's awesome as hell and i'm very pleased to have it. I'm just wondering though since its still stock (nothing was done to the car besides a stage 1 clutch) what's the first performance part i should buy for it? i'm kind of in a budget and i'm wondering what would be the first thing i'd want to get, as in more bang for the buck? Thanks! oh yeah i'm new to honda-tech so i'm very pleased and wanting to meet everyone up on here

Since you're in CA, Im assuming you want smog legal mods, so If you get pulled over it won't be a problem, so I suggest S2 stage 1 cams($250-350 used), Edelbrock header($200-350 used-new), S2 IM($100-150 used), quiet exhuast(300-500), and a tune(250-400). That's decent power for about $1G. If you can afford it also, a B16 or ITR tranny($400-1000).

Since its OBD1 I don't know if they will hook up the scanner to check for stored codes. But I know if your car is OBD2 and you got an OBD1 ecu during the smog, that's an automatic fail cause the OBD2 scanner won't make a connection w/ the OBD1 ecu.

b16 transmission. Best bang for the buck if you're not planning on going force inducted.

CARB Legal Intake such as AEM is a no brainer.

The best performance upgrade you can do though is suspension

Intake>Exhaust>>Header>Cams>Tune&gt ;Intake Manifold & Throttle Body>Retune
Or if you have the skills to do it yourself and save a lot on labor then:
B16 or ITR Tranny, lightweight flywheel & performance clutch

i still think the b16 tranny is the best bang for the buck.

my gsr had a s2 manifold, catless exhaust, intake, and a tuned ecu for the setup and my buddy with a bone stock gsr with that b16 tranny kept up with me.

ITR has dual syncro's, better final drive and of course LSD.

B16 has a weaker diff and there's a myth going around saying the 3rd gear is the first to go.

So take it for what's it worth.

Yeah i've driven my friends gsr with a b16 tranny and I personally think it accelerates faster than mines. I would say go for the b16 tranny! 400-500 bucks for a legit one. Unless your planning on going Turbo stick with your gsr tranny.

suspension or turbo. Nothing else makes a difference.
