93 cx d16z6 swap need to bar/ref?
*i tried searching but it seems the only topics that came up were about d16z6 crx's
ok car is 93 cx
i understand:
-motor year need to be same as car or newer
-need all original equipment (ecu, manifold, ect..)
my question is, if i were to swap this motor would i need to have it bar'd or ref'd? also would i be able to get away with a cx tranny on the d16z6? *i want the tranny because i travel alot(ie: gas mileage) but the 70hp motor is killin me.
please dont turn it into B vs H vs K, those are out of question

i think you need not to worry about anything other than what you already knew. i don't think you need to bar it. I've legally got my dx swapped cx smogged with no hassle. That z6 might be different emission specs-wise though...
ya i wouldnt think so, but thats the problem i dont know a definite answer.
i would assume that because the d16z6 was offered on the si model that it could be interchangeable between chasis but im not sure.
help is appreciated

If the engine was an option in that model car then you do NOT need to go to the ref. Since the Civic SI was available that year, it is considered an UPGRADE and NOT AND ENGINE SWAP... You will not need to go to the ref. I have done this very same exact swap and smogged it with 0 issues.
