Default noob engine swap question

Hi,

I recently bought a 1995 civic lx. Its got the standard d15b7 in it already and had an auto to manual tranny swap done to it too with an EX transmission. I am going to swap in a newer motor cause something must have happened while i was driving it back up since it is now currently burning about a 1/2 quart of oil in about a week.

Anyway, i was wondering if a ex motor from a 96-00 civic would bolt up to the ex transmission and if it will just drop right in with the stock mounting locations, they are both d-series motor but i just want to make sure before i go and buy it. also, i don't know if anyone else has done this, but the motor would come with everything (wiring harness, axles, auto trans and ecu.) I dont think that i should need new engine mounts though so i am not worried about that.

well, you'll have to swap some stuff around on the automatic engine. such as your flywheel, along with flywheel bolts.

but why buy a full swap when you don't need most of it? just keep an eye out for a longblock.

well i was planning on seeing if i can get the guy to sell me just the motor, ecu and wiring harness. I just want to make sure that transmission i have will bolt up. I did forget to mention that its a 95 ex tranny, dont know if that matters.

Transmission bolts right up. If you're going to use the ECU, you're going to need a conversion harness (OBD1 to OBD2[A or B]), because it has different plugs than what your car comes with.

if your car is manual, which it sound like it had the conversion done, then the automatic ecu is also a waste of money
