Default Power FC

I have the power fc w/ commander on my car. I will probably go boost within the next 6 months but I was wondering what you guys think about the power fc. Do you think I should change it to something else or will I be fine?

Just out of curiousity, why cant you run above 10 psi? I heard it was a great stand alone. However I dont know much about tuning.

The stock map sensor does not work properly much above 10 PSI.
The Power FC Commander is a pain in the *** to tune.
The FC Commander Pro cable and laptop software is much more user friendly.

I definitely understand the whole pain in the *** part. I am going to buy the software and cable. I just did want to put the money into it if the stand-alone is inferior to everything else on the market.

Could I not buy an aftermarket map sensor to solve that problem?

Yes. You just have to set up your map for the MAP sensor that you install.

There's also the BOOST KIT, that plugs a Dense 3 bar map sensor to the harness on the side of the power fc (the white harness plug). This was mainly used on the RB motors, but works quite well for the Honda camp also. What happens is you actually use BOTH sensors. (the stock map & the denso 3 bar). Power FC knows the difference between when to use the stock map sensor and the Denso sensor. I've used Power FC with over 5 years on a turbo honda, and have NO regrets whatsoever.

It's a pain the tune on the hand held device.
But it's simple EMS that can be setup fast.
I would recommend using your laptop.

But on the other hand stock ecu with an tuning system like eCtune, NepTune will gives you much more options and stock drive ability

Some "options" are needed more to some people than others. I guess maybe I'm in the minority, but just because it has the most featurettes doesn't make it a better solution. That's like having a mechanism in my car that shoots M&Ms in my hand as I drive. Interesting feature, but not a reason to buy a car.

Get FC-Datalogit and you'll be able to tune the P-FC with relative ease as long as you have a wideband.

The boost kit is for boost control. It will give all of the functions of the AVC-R EXCEPT gear based boost control. The Denso used in the boost kit only reads positive pressure so the OEM map sensor is needed for vacuum. The Denso gauge that is used in the Intregal boost/AF meter is a different model so it can read vacuum and positive pressure.
