its personal prefrence. Its alot easier to get power you want from an LS/V but if you like the idea of non-vtec i do go for it. What's your goals for the motor?

i had boost in mind but all-motor is more of the "sleeper". ls any good with stage 1 cams with stock valvetrain or would the stage 2 with aftermarket valvetrain be better? i am totally noob at this stuff.

how far are you willing to go with this motor? if you just want to put in a set of 'stage 1' cams, you're not going to see much in the way of gains.

really depends how far you want to go, if you are looking for good numbers I would go lsvtec with pistons and cams, ls all motor will require a lil more number to get similar numbers as an lsvtec setup would, so what do u want out of the motor

1. ReSEARCH

2. Determine what you want to do

all motor? since you posted here you're in the right place

--1.8 LS? maybe you have a ls, so you're using what you got and start here

--2.0+ b20b/z? maybe you have one sitting around or planning to get one?

--1.8 LS-VTEC? got an ls and planning on purchasing a vtec head?

--2.0+ b20b/z-VTEC? got that b20 already and planning on buying a vtec head? start here

3. Set a budget and goal... Excel is awesome

4.Get to work

Seriously don't ask someone what you should do... do the homework and find out what you really want to do and achieve...highest hp 1.8 nonvtec or 2.0+ nonvtec? highest hp 1.8 lsv or 2.0+lsv?

If i told you to go all out on a 2.0+ nonvtec(b series) build and try to get 220+whp. Why?...1.because its the challenge to get those numbers 2.no one has posted a dyno sheet or video of this kind before 3. I think the engine note will sound killer....but do you have the funds to do this?????

example(my case)

I found a gsr for $1000 with a spun rod bearing....I figured since i was gonna need a new crank why not go with ls... I'm no baller so i stick with a stock block and use the biggest oem pistons 81.25mm. It's gonna be a DD so 93 gas is on my mind. My mind set is to max the hp out of a 81.25mm LSV with a 12:1 compression ratio. I'm going all out but on the cheap, getting whats only necessary and using reliable Honda parts.
