Default used car buying guide

i'm looking at getting a civic for my sister (with her money). what specific issues should i look out for when buying the 01-05 civic? i have an 2000 integra myself and know the basics about buying used, but was wondering what civic specific problems i should look out for? She has $5,000 at most to spend. This car will be for COMMUTING, not racing, moding etc...

this thread is intended to be for my particular situation, but mainly for the benefit of everyone looking for a used civc.

I'll start with the basics for any noobs to car buying
-KBB, edmonds for aprox. value
-autotrader for actual street value
-always get a pre-purchase inspection from a shop proficient in engine, and bodywork
-get a carfax report, but don't trust it(if done outside insurance, engine/bodywork won't show up from what i've heard)
-uneven tire wear my be indication of bad alignment, bent frame
-stay away, or pay a lot less for salvage titles
-brand new tires may be atempt at hiding alignment issues
-check fluids
-ask for mantainance records
-look on AutoTrader/craigslist
