Default Normal A/F ratio for a stock Honda?

I just installed my wideband in anticipation of boost in a few months. I was just curious as to what a normal A/F ratio is on a stock engine/ECU.

At idle I'm around 13.2-13.5.

Cruising I vary, but at a steady throttle its like 14.0.

At full throttle is cycles between 13.2 and like 14.8 repeatedly.

When I let off the gas and vacuum goes up to like 25 in/hg., the A/F ratio goes up to 16.00 and then it says AIR and then says CAL (the calibration setting.)

Normal?

not at all. Stock my car idled at 14.7 accept during engine decel, my car was at 14.7. At full throttle, around 4500 rmp, it will go in to the low 13s.

I suspect your gauge is off

Really? Hmm... I calibrated it like the manual said.

Maybe my timing is off? I never reset my timing after converting to OBD1 and I did put a new distributor on...

Stock ECU no chipping?

you have a fuel pump or FPR?

Walbro 255 hp fuel pump, stock fpr, stock P06 ECU, SOHC ZC converted to OBD1.

I don't know if it's the timing (which I'm pretty sure is off...) or if the gauge isn't calibrated enough?

The pump is making the rich-ish idle.

Get it tuned

I would assume that the stock FPR and 02 sensor would compensate for it.

Sounds completely normal to me. How many of you have actually sampled the AFR from a stock ECU? Its all over the place.

Im assuming that by "AIR" "Cal" is what it displays when AFR is off the scale lean which is also normal for decel.

Ahh, I thought you had it in open loop. That is normal for closed loop on a old-ish sensor.

Yes. When it goes out of range (16.00), it does that. Glad to know it's normal on decel.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Turbogixxer &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

Yes, closed loop, stock 4-wire 02 sensor. It's a junkyard sensor too, maybe I should freshen it up, lol.

What wideband do you have?

They're not supposed to display "air" until after 19.9. At least, that's what most widebands are calibrated to.

Either way, I could see it running a tad richer with the fuel pump in there. Those walbro's do bump up the fuel pressure a little bit.

I have an NGK AFX.

I calibrated it to what the manual said. The wideband will top out at 16.00 (it's upper limit) and stay there for a second before going to "AIR" and then a second later go to "CAL".

I have been installing some AFX and they're kind of weird at the begining and usually start giving the right numbers after a couple minutes/hours using it. The AEM I have installed have never done that though. That's the one with that big rectangular display module right?

Yeah. The sensor has a 20 second "heat up" countdown when you turn it on to make sure it's warm before you see any readings.
