How times have changed since 1997...
Going through some old pictures (old as in I had to scan this one in) and found this:

I used to go to the Atlanta International Car Show every year with my father...I remember how excited I was to see my first ITR and dreamed of owning one (I was 16 at the time). Funny thing was, nobody even looked at the car the whole three hours I was there drooling over it and the new spa yellow 97 NSX-T (first year of the 3.2L, 6-speed, bigger brakes, and spa yellow). If there was a 1997 ITR with under ten miles on it sitting in the convention center these days, it would be stolen faster than we could blink

Great post man!!!
Look at those ancient MPV's in the background. For some reason, maybe it's because I drive a '97, I just don't think the car looks dated even in 2008.

I remember a 97 on the Hendrick (rickisanassclown) Acura lot in 97 with dealer AC added...I liked that car a lot then..... Even more now.
P.S. Also rememeber a brand new 1995 FD3S on the lot across US 74 from the Acura dealer in early 96.
Phucking hot, hot!!

Dave, don't waste your time these days. I tried to go this year...paid $10 to park the car, walked 3 miles, got to the ticket booth and notice a small sign that states:
"The following vehicle manufacturers are not represented at the Orlando International Auto Show:
Acura
Audi
BMW
Honda
Land Rover
Lexus
Mercedes
Porsche
Volkswagen
Volvo"
Needless to say, I didn't waste any more of my time to go look at a what... a Geo?

If the car would have been unlocked, I would have known the number. The ITR was the only Acura locked. The NSX was ropped off and on a rotating platform. I should have snagged a pic of the VIN.
I noticed a cool thing the other day...if you look at the original 1997 ITR brochure, the pictured car has a license plate with the number 241 on it (along with a couple letters before it). Not saying that it means that car is 1997 badge #241, but I thought it was cool because my 97 is number 241.

I go to the Chicago Auto Show every year since 98 (I missed only since then) and every year they have all of the car manufacturers but anyways I only go to check out Honda, Acura, BMW, Subaru and Mitsubishi. This year I just went there to check out the new Nissan GT-R

Yeah, Acura had a handful of 97 ITRs over for the Winter/early Spring 97 Autoshows.
A lot of people really had no idea what they were. Word got out quickly though and the ITR sold more GSRs that year than any Integra cmmercial could have (Since 97's were tough to get at first).
Heck, I bought a 97 GSR that spring...but mainly because I couldn't afford or get a deal on a 97 ITR as they were still commanding over-invoice.
As for old exhausts...the early/mid 90's were a decent time. The uber-ricer 4"+ tips weren't too popular yet. I had a Momo exhaust on my GSR that had a beautiful 3.5" SS tip. God I miss that exhaust...

I used to go to the Detroit Auto show every year when I lived in Michigan and Ohio. Started in the early 90's Funny how then it was cars with basic booths, now the booths are more outlandish than the cars.

By 99-00 ricey exhausts were in full-swing. I remember that the only exhaust I could find for my 00 ITR that didn't have a 4" or larger tip was a Comptech.
To this day I still have no idea why this trend continues.

I'm not sure if I went to the auto show in STL in 97 or not, I was only 15-16 at the time, but I do remember seeing the PY R at the 00 auto show and my friends dad actually bought it afterwards with missing original badge number, it had a blank so it must have been stolen, I believe it now belongs to someone in FL, at least that's who he had sold it to

Damn u guys are old. I didn't even know the ITR existed until i saw a PY 2000 or 2001, and i didn't fall in love wit the car until 2003 and shortly after i begged the hell out of my parents to help me buy one.
I remember getting the email from Acura when they first announced the ITR
I further remember them struggeling to get the first few in the states...had some emissions problems and had to retract 200hp statements made in first email due to new emissions crap.
I also remember them having a simple ITR website showing options and such...I see what I can dig up.

i went to the autoshow in orlando last year too hoping to see the new skyline....., a lot of those manufacturers pulled out because of the lack in attendance. It was thanksgiving weekend or something...some kind of holiday which is why a lot left after the first day, or didn't show up. Never got to see the new ITR at a convention though wish i did.

I can remember overhearing my brothers talking about the introduction of the ITR when i was 12 years old (1996). When i was 14 our neighbor purchased a brand new 98 in Baltimore. I will never forget going for my very first ride in that Type R. I knew that day that i would eventually own one. At that time i had no idea what a cult following the car would have, nor how much of a theft risk owning/driving one would be.
To no ones surprise however, the ITR is still reconized as one of the best front wheel drive cars ever produced.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our 8th annual celebration of the ITR.

Saving this pic for sure.
