1995 Accord 2.2 non v tec Auto Trans: EGR VALVE TICKING
Ok, Ive had this car a little over a month and havent gotten used to this one, and I hope I dont have to. I noticed a ticking noise that occurs aroung 1500 rpm or so. Its worse while its actually in gear. I had a friend hold the brake, put it in gear and rev it up. I heard the ticking and found its the EGR valve. I can actually feel it ticking. So I went to a local junkyard, grabbed another, installed it in the parking lot, and that one did it too. So I took the part back in and the guy gave me a refund. So now Im a little stumped, did I just get unlucky and got another one that was bad? OR, is it something else thats making it tick? I know what the thing does, and I know some people would just say live with it. But Im not that person, so any help would be appreciated. Hopefully someone else has had this same issue. And trust me Ive read through 100's of threads about EGR's , but none have ever said anything about this irritating audible TICK!
I should say that it is a very fast tick, and doesnt change or increase with the rpm's. I may just build a babble, or find someother way to relocate it so I cant hear it. I believe its working correctly just based on what others tell me there cars do when its either clogged or not working.

you need to check and see if the egr ports are stopped up. i have had this happen when the ports are stopped up. if you put vac to the egr valve. the engine should stall. if it dont you need to clean it out.
