I have recently replaced the water pump,timing belt, distributor,coil,plugs,wires , cleaned the injectors,fuel filter,and all the vacuum lines the looked worn.
My problem is only occuring about 75% of the time I am driving the car , its starts, idles great, no smoke at idle, just a little smoke when taking back off from a stop, after I drive for a few miles down the road the check engine light will come on and it seems like the engine loses about half of its power. I can pull over shut off the engine and restart it immediately and it will run fine again, as soon as the check engine light comes on again the same thing happens again, but about 25% of the time I drive it the check engine will come on and it seems to have no effect on the engines performance, I talked with a friend and he seems to think it may be my ecm, or a problem with the fuel mapping of the ecm, Has anyone had any similiar problems?
