Default Here's $1300 - What SetUp Would You Get?

I am budgeting $1300 to spend on car stereo setup in my 94 GSR Sedan. (including wiring and installation)

I already have an Alpine CDA-7892 head unit (paid $340 installed including taxes and wiring and adapter) so should I return it and get something else? I still have 20 days left to decide. I am very picky about sound quality. I am looking for balanced, neutral sound with excellent dynamics and power response.

The Zapco AG360 is only $370...MBQuart PSP260 6.5 components are $300 - not sure about the 6x9's or if I should run a sub or not. Budgeting about $200 in wiring and install cost in that $1300.

What set up of speakers and amplifier/s would you get for best Sound Quality for $1300?

Or you could keep that $200 and install it yourself...

run a sub.

(1 pair) CDT Audio CL-61- $299.99 http://thezeb.com/caraudio/CDT_Audio_Components.html
(1) adire audio shiva 12"- $125 SHIPPED
(1) JBL 1200.1- $285 SHIPPED
(1) Autotek 4 channel amp SX-475- $219.99
(1) Lightning Audio SXPK4D- $79.99

TOTAL- $1009.97
s/h for the zeb+ 6.95
new total -$1016.92

for the CDT components, they also include either 5.25" or 6.5" classic speakers for free. instead of getting 6x9, make a bracket and use the CL-6X speakers that came with it. u just saved yourself from buying some 6x9". power the front components and rear speakers with the autotek amp. all you need is some patch cables for the amp. buy a really long one and use a splitter at the end so you will save money by not needing two cables. it shouldn't be that expensive. $80 at the most for decent wires and splitter.

install it yourself..

With 1300 bucks, the first thing I would do is get new speakers all around the car. Preferably MB Quart...5.25's and 6*9's or 6.5's whatever it takes in your GSR. Then I would get an amp....you would be out about 500 for the speakers maybe more for installation...then I would get an amp to run the speakers..maybe a 150 watt Alpine or JL. After all this you would probably have 500 bucks left..you can't really get a great setup with 1300 bucks. With 500 you could get some decent 12's..nothing to great. I would save a little more to about 1800 then you could get good subs and a nice amp to power them....Thats all I have to say about that.

i like the sound of CDT's better, because they are less harsh on my ears (silk tweeters). MB quarts uses metal-type dome tweeters, which will go very high, but will hurt your ears at high volumes. the mb can go over 20,000hz, but its unaudible to most human ears anyways...

i fell in love with mbquarts once my cousin installed them. they sound great, but a little too harsh (highs) on some songs. i went out and bought the CDT cambria (which is the one that is sold out on thezeb cuz i got the last box ) the midbass is incredible. like-like sound and not too harsh on the ear. i would say they are still comparable to mb quarts. the deal on the CL-61 is amazing..1 pair of components, and one pair of either 5.25" or 6.5" coaxial speakers for only $299.99

and to the reply that says you can't get a good system for $1300, i think its a stereotype. i can build a good system for $1300. u just gotta know where to get the stuff and plan it out right the first time

You can also skip the expensive rear speakers, throw in some shitty three ways for at least a LITTLE better response when they are on, and focus on upfront midbass and imaging with a good set of components, and a steep slope crossover.

You should also consider getting a sub, a single 12" should do you fine, unless you really want your bass to be heard outside, like that of an unbalanced setup.

I agree with your call on the mb quartz being great, but the tweets too harsh I personally love the kappas
