Running insanely rich. JDM D15B
So I have a 1994 CX Hatch with a OBDI D15B. I did search but when I tried to bump old topics no-one answered my questions.
The problem is as it follows. I start the car and I can distinctly smell gasoline from the tailpipe. Raw unburned gas. There are no codes and I jump the connectors just in case, nothing. Also, when on high rpms, there is a black smoke out the tailpipe.
Question. I did my own timing belt and all my work. I burnt a valve a while back on nitrous and rebuilt the head as well so I did all of it.
Q? Could my timing being off cause this gas smell and the high rpm problem?
Q2? When I connected the nitrous I had the fuel line split. Would the high pressure from the nitrous cause a faulty FPR and this way causing the shitty mileage and extra gas thrown in the engine.
The plugs seem fine, I had a turbo GSR so I can read them just fine.
I got 30 mpg on a recent trip, maybe 4 days ago. However I get maybe high teens in city driving and both are way below the gas mileage it should be getting.

Really sounds like a valve is blown. However seeing as no one is perfect and you did your own timing adjustment, i would look into that, too much overlap can cause injected fuel to escape out the exhaust valve. Any backfiring?

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

guarantee it backfired into the intake manifold and cooked your intake air temp sensor. as this is the only sensor that has the power to make your car run unreason ably out of tune. and i've seen it happen so many times before.
replace that lil white sensor on the manifold and it should fix it. i bet it looks nasty when you take it out.

true
but if it looks like over-cooked hot dog, its usually a good indicator

Ill check that as soon as possible. I just got to find my multimeter.
