Default Spark plug gap - GSR motor, ITR pistons

Failed smog with high HC count...changing out plugs and was wondering what is the best spark plug gap to have with this config...Helms said for ITR - .044 and for GSR - .052...any input will be greatly appreciated.

If it's me, I'll stay with .044 and go with hoter plugs, advance your timing to 14, run Chevron gas continuously for a week, do atleast .5hr of highway driving right before take it in for smog, and don't go in with almost emty tank. That should do it.
