Default steering issue(hard steering etc)

Car is a 90CRX si with ZC LSD tranny(for what its worth). After having a new motor and tranny installed in the car the steering is really hard to turn at low speed corners and if I release the steering wheel while turning the steering whips HARD back to the center position. When the front end is up on jackstands the steering is free and loose but when on the ground the steering is really hard to turn. Upper controll arms are brand new, tie rod balljoints appear to be in good condition as well as the lower ball joints. Tires are inflated to spec, Any ideas????

Thanks allot.

Have you had a 4 wheel thrust alignment?

Sounds like castor symptoms to me. Maybe quickly check the steering troubleshooting section of your workshop manual.

i agree it does sound like caster issues.

what are the chances you flipped the front upper control arms in the wrong side?

you ought to check that.

and just to be clear, you are comparing it to before the swap. its not a matter of this car being new to you with non power steering, right?

This is compared to after the swap, no ps. Upper controll arms are correctly installed. I plan on taking it back to the alignment shop and have him look at it again. I did some research and everything seems to point to caster issues. We'll see.
