Default Stock block LS/V waste of time?

Friend of mine has this brilliant idea of doing ls/v in his hatch. He wants to get arp rod bolts, and leave the bottom in stock and drop a GSR head on it. Then build the head down the road. Is this even feasible? wouldn't the compression still be low and hinder the motor from making power? what kind of numbers would it put out, 170? just curious...and yes i've searched

if he is gonna go thru the trouble of having arp rob bolts install he might as well get a set of B16 pistons at the same time. atleast he is off to a good start then.

if he is gonna just use the LS pistons then it's not worth it. tell him to save up some money and do it all at the same time.

my thoughts too. he keeps telling me it'll still haul *** with the low comp pistons in it. i think it would only gain maybe 20whp at the most from the head. he needs more.

You'd think they wouldn't make any power with that low *** comp but I know my friends stock ls block/b16head/i/h/e/im ls vtec dyno'd 181/140 on the same dyno that I use.

Anywho its just stupid to pull it apart to put in rod bolts and NOT put in better pistons.
