Buying a 95 EX 2-door with a rebuilt engine?
(Honda-tech, I miss you. I owned a 4-door '98 Civic, and then I sold it before my first university year.)
But now it's time to get another car, and I've got an offer for a '95 EX 2-door for ~$2750. Kelly bluebook says excellent @ $4060, good @ $3635, fair at $3075... I assume it'll hold it's value, because I'll probably end up selling in August.
Problems: AC weak, cruise control not working because of electrical issues, no stereo, rebuilt engine. This worries me a bit, but I haven't seen the car yet so I don't know what's up with this whole engine thing. I'll be asking about it.
I'm pretty newb at buying cars so... should I take this car to a mechanic or something? What should I even ask the mechanic to do? What questions should I ask when I see the car?
I just need something that can handle hardcore city driving and also take me out to the mojave and the sierras from the bay area.

i would def take it somewhere to get it checked out.
Living in CA, ac is something you are going to want working in traffic.
you are also going to want to find out the extent of the electrical issues, a short would be bad if ignored.
find out why there is no stereo. was it stolen, or just not being sold with aftermarket cd player. stolen generally means cut wires, and a pain in the ***.
as far as the motor goes, find out who rebuilt it, and what was done and why.
