Default heres the symptoms, please help me name the cause

so i installed my drag 3 on my 99 gsr today, and had a hondata base map written for me with my exact setup (using 450cc's) butt heres what happens when i start it up:

1- car idles OK, then after about 3-5 mins, the engine starts to shake pretty bad

2- at idle, it detonates (is this normal?)..cuz it sounds like empty coke cans are rattleing around in there.....then after 5 mins of idling, the engine dies

3- i take it out to drive, and driving around the block 3-4 times, i come to a complete stop, and the car dies immediately

a- so is this normal w/ a base map?

b- something i can adjust w/ the BOV? (maybe not)

c- the base map calls for anything between 45-50psi of base fuel pressure, and since my dumbass stripped the top of the allen bolt on the aem fpr, it's stuck at 40 right now..is that the cause?

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. When the car is idling, shoot WD40 around the vacuum sources. If the engine surges, you've found it.

You must be hearing something else at idle. I've never seen a car detonate at idle. There is no load on the engine at that point.

what are the sources? just the fpr right? cuz thats the only place i tee'd anything off as a source (BOV, gauge)

maybe adjust my BOV, or is that not the case? should i be tightening it or loosening it? thanks again.

sounds like its running ok at idle but then when the car warms up and your mixture changes (as it should) you are probably leaning out way too much. I told you a "base" map will only get you as far as a tuner. Don't expect anything to run quite right till you get your idle mixture and partial throttle maps tuned correctly.

Sorry

are you stuck at 40 psi w/ the hose disconnected? if not your really at about 30 psi of fuel pressure which would mean your hella lean. try using a small vise grip or small monkey wrench to losen the fpr.

it's weird because when the engine is warm after i drove around for a bit, it'll just die out at a stop sign, butt then i drove it out again last night, stop and go, and it would never die out, but a constant idle at 400rpm. did the ecu "learn" this?

im at 40psi with the hoses attached.

40PSI with hoses on is too low if your base program was set to be higher. Can't you find someone with a 4B near you?

i think the ecu sorta adjusted itself, cuz im still at 40psi right now, and the car stopped dying and idling pretty well (even though its at 400rpm)
