Ok, i just got the rex started, its a 91 Si, with a obd1 converted y8 motor. The ecu is a p28. I got it started, and it idled rough as expected it to, but only for about 5 or 6 minutes, i let it sit there and idle for almost half an hour. The idle set it self pretty steady, but the whole time my tach never moved from 0 rpms, why do i not have any tach input?

Also, i shut it off, and went to restart it and now nothing, the lights dont come on. Im gonna try to jump it again (thats what i originally did) as my battery could just be bad which isnt as big of a deal.

Other than that she sounded good for the circumstances. I have to CEL's 21 and 41 , the VTEC spoil solenoid and the o2 sensor.
Now as far as these go, ive heard that if they're is ANY CEL on at all, the VTEC will not engage, now is this true? And if it is, would it show the CEL for VTEC as well?

I do know that O2 sensor can die when they sit for long period of times. Check the blue wire from your dizzy, that's the tach signal wire, and check the continuity from it to your ecu. Might be dead.

Code 21 is not allowing your vtec to work. Fix that one using the honda manual (hondatech.info).

 

Thanks. Actually i just re jump it.. the tach is working.. its just off i guess? i dont exactly know.. at idle its at 0 rpms, but if i rev it it goes up
