Ls or Z6?
So yesterday I went to the local junk yard for a horn and came across a couple ruff diamonds in the mix. One I found a d16z6 longblock with everything but a valve cover and a cam pulley. Other than that is complete and I also seen a b18b1 out of a 94 LS. The LS is an auto so I was wondering if the motor mounts would still work in a 5speed? But with gas hitting $3.70 a gallon Im a little worried about MPG's. This will be my first build and relatively simple, Im not looking for all out power just something I can take to the road course and have fun with every now and then. Its going in a EJ8 (96 Ex). Any opinions welcome.
I have an ls in my del sol
couldnt be happier. One thigs you HAVE to do is get a b16 tranny or a gsr. The ls tranny really slows you down ALOT.
i get around 25-30 mpg

I was planning on a GSR w/ LSD if I chose the LS, an 25-30mpg isnt bad in my opinion. Although no one has answered my question of if the motor mounts out of the automatic will work in my 5speed?? Thanks!

In a 96-00 Platform, I don't believe they will work, and I know for a fact the rear bracket will not as I ran into that problem in my 92 CX *the rear auto 'T-Bracket'* is different for the manual and auto transmissions.
The motor however is the same as the manual one, so when you buy a manual trans, be sure to buy the rear T-bracket off a 99-00 Civic SI, as well as the dust shield for the manual transmission.
Do some searches in the FAQ's for whats needed, the information is already there.
