You can run unleaded but of course, its not going to run as well as 91

Yeah, these threads make me want to photocopy my manual so it can be /thread once and for all.

Ninja edit: Uh oh... shop manual does not say 87 octane.

damn lol. Well the compression is pretty low so I guess it really isn't necessary to go high

I've got months on 87, switched to 93 for two tanks (with ecu reset) and as expected, noticed no difference.

Hell- only 86!
(is that only for Canadian specs? )
i'm wondering if i can get by with the farmers blend- E-85 ...???

would that work? its only 1 below recomended- (And it's a lot cheaper per gallon around here!)

Wait a sec....
i can get 87 and 89 for the same price, and i usually put in 89,

so when i get to a half a tank- could i mix e-85 into it? (why not?- would it hurt performance?)

if it's ok, and gas hits over $4, i'll give it some consideration!

Dude, e-85 means it's 85% ethanol - CH3CH2OH. The octane rating is actually around 100 but it doesn't mean you can use it. In short, your compression is too low for efficient usage.

DAMN! stuck paying full price!

well, it was worth a shot! at least i'm not considering "cooking oil" like some people on you tube
(i guess it's for for diesel engines only)
thanks for the heads up Whitey!

i wouldn't want to f'up "lil bandit!"... so i'll stick with the 87 or 89!

yeah, because it has the K20A3 (i-vtec = intake only!)
its sad it doesn't put more than 140-145hp to the wheel -
(but a couple of mod$ and it'll beat most cars on the road- up until 70mph!)

They are great daily drivers either way! i love mine!
so,
Congrats on picking one up, to Both- You and the OP!
