Default Fuel concerns

Just recently put a B16a in my 91 cx. Due to advice from a close...very knowledgeable friend.. I was told to run my engine on no less than 91 octane. So I fueled my car with 91 octane. However I also heard through the grapevine that one should alternate b/w 87 and 91 or 87 and 94 or whatever. I just heard that switching between octanes would help the car run better. That sounds kind of far fetched.
Any ideas?

i think the way it goes is that if you run 87 or 89, every once in couple tanks you should put 91 in. u prob. wont find a manual that says "premium unleaded fuel only...and every once in a while throw some lower crap in it." but you should run the higher.

I just stick to one kind of octane. 89. but if you need an octane boost, don't go buy the more expensive gas, just buy the cheapest, and throw in a bottle of Outlaw Compact octane booster.

oUtLaW RuLeZ~~~~yO!!!! just spend 15 cents on the dollar and do it right, the first time....buy premium.

just drink 2 less beers than you would, and you've paid for your gas for the week.

Top gear did a thing a couple months ago wherein they did a little research and found that your middle of the road engines/cars usually do best/last longer on 89 octane, unless the manual specifically requests a higher grade. I'd stick with the 89, were I you.

man these boyz make good decisions. I stick w/89 go w/ the outlaw compact if you want to up that 89. 89 keeps my engine running good.

Aftermarket Octane Booster is utter CRAP. DO NOT BUY IT. Instead, goto your local paint store and pick up 2 Gallons of Toluene or Xylene. Pure product preferred. Dump into car. Will increase octane by about 4-7 points. Don't go above 70%:30% Toluene/Xylene.

Do a search if u want the rest of the info.
