a friend of mine has some darton sleeves in his s2000 motor, "closed deck" with the holes around the outside of the cylinders and they havn't been good at all, they sunk ship about 2 times now.

No there not the M.I.D sleeves. They are Dartons old design back in 01' is when they were installed. The place that did the install was the place that did AEBS's machine work back then on their Focus motor. The reason I'm asking is I just started this motor and was wondering if anyone had any cooling issues. Anything I need to do to the cooling system to allow it to work more efficiently with this setup? Where can I get a lower temp T-stat?

If I ever have to pull this motor out will the M.I.D sleeves be able to be installed maybe with a little machine work or would I have to get a new block to be fitted with the M.I.D sleeves.

I can assure you if your sleeves are anything like the AEBS design with the closed deck and only holes drilled, then the sleeves are NOT your cooling problem. Either a bad thermostat (extremely rare), clogged radiator (fairly rare), mis-routed hoses from thermostat housing/intake/heater core, bad fan switch, bad fan, or not getting the system bleed properly! We have used closed deck sleeves for years and never once had any issues

hmmm.. their sleeves are cut in the block and actually sit on a little ledge so they can't sink... unless the machine work was not done correctly. Or.. The sleeves were not pushed all the way down and "seated" and then the block was deck.. then they could so call sink.. (hope that make sense)

that might be the case, not seated completly and sank. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth regardless.

Either way, the sleeve did not fail. Sad to see good product not work as it was design to, do to not getting installed correctly.
