Default oil pressure light problem and oil problem

i have a 99 civic ex with sir swap.. the motor burns oil (.5-1quart a week) so i went to my local auto shop (kragen) and i got something called cd-2 oil treatment that saids it'll stop oil burning engines.. i replaced my oil about 1200miles ago so i figured i didnt need to replace it again yet... so i poured in all of the content (like it said in the box)... it was like vasline jelly.. iono.. ok

well i did this yester day and today.. when ever i idle at a light my oil light lights up,,, it flickers on and off or stays on... when ever i drive its fine... when i start the motor up from cold its fine... what could be the problem?..

Your low oil pressure light comes on when the pressure hits 5psi. My guess is there is something stuck in your oil pickup screen and is starving your oil pump for oil. Before your next oil change fun some engine flush stuff through your engine. The flush stuff might break the gunk/build-up of stuff that is starving your oil pump and caustin the low oil pressure light to come on.

If that doesnt work I would drop the pan and check the pickup.

My .02 cents

Drain your oil with the drain plug out dump one qrt oil through then instal drain plug fill your engine with the cheepest oil you can get run it for about a 5 mins and drain. WHY you ask that crap you put in the engine is only going to thincken your oil making it less likly to get past the rings and be burned. Its harder to pump through the oil system GET IT OUT ( if it looks like honey and pours like honey what do you think it is doing to your engine. Just run a 15w40 if you want something a little thicker to help keep from burning as much oil.

problem solved.. i went to my auto store and bought a bottle of engine flush.. ran only 1/3 of it.. for 5 minutes... then drained it out... i then used a quart of shell 5w30 oil to see if it goes through and it does... ran the whole quart through then pluged it all up and refilled it .. no more light thanks!

Like I said try going up to a 10w40 its a little thicker and will not burn off as quickly or you could try the rebuild in a can (restore 4 cylinder) But if your burning that much oil it sounds like its time to do some engine work
