i currently have a 99 civic ex with a b18c1 swap done. mods included are:
dc sport headers
apexi catback exhaust
skunk2 intake manifold
68mm throttle body
aem cold air intake
dc sport short shifter

like it says in the title i got beat by a cobalt that i know wasn't an ss, very embarassing.

i want to put a turbo kit on it but i'm not sure if i should build it myself or buy one that is already put together, the car is currently running a/c and ps, which i would like to keep on the car, any suggestions on what to do would be great.

oh yea, and if i piece the kit together myself what is EVERYTHING that i'm going to need???

also learn how to drive. the ss should be the only one giving you trouble and i think you should be faster anyway.

A Cobalt SS has more power to the wheels than you, and significantly more torque.

those things typcially dyno at about 205-210whp, and easily more when modded.

Without cams, IMO, your intake manifold does little, especially with that large throttle body.

I think you'd be lucky to be putting down 180whp with what you've got.

 

But, he said it WASNT THE SS.

So he should have murdered that Base model cobalt easily!! Either something is wrong with your car or your driving skills need some work.

 

I imagine that swapping an SS engine wouldnt be too difficult into the same chassis.. so maybe it was.. Did the OP inspect the engine of the competing car to verify this? or did it just not have a SS badge? my ef hatch doesnt have si badging, and it doesn't mean its an STD..
