Downgrade from d16y8 to d16y7
Hello! My '96 Civic EX (d16y8) is running pretty rough with it's 180,000 miles, so a friend and I are swapping in a d16y7 to hold me over until we rebuild the y8. This will be my first swap ever. I understand that I am downgrading in hp/torque, however this y7 has fairly low mileage and I think it's a good choice for now. I have the ECU for the y7. I plan to keep my current wiring harness as it is, and just not hook up the VTEC. I've searched for tips on disabling/omitting VTEC and the only info I can find is about mini-me projects. I have never played around with the ECU or the jumper. Can anyone tell me what I should leave disconnected? Is it just the Solenoid and VTEC Pressure Switch? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you.
