Recaro rear seat gap on a 96 hatch.

I bought the ITR rear seats and when i installed them on my 96 hatch there's a gap between the bottom seat and the back rest. about 2 1/2 inches gap? Is there a trick to this? I got pix and i'll try to upload them tomorrow.

that sux - there's no other way around it? anything to fabricate?
