I just did this on my 96 over the weekend. Pre-heat the oven to 300* and then put one headlight on a baking sheet and put it in the oven. Leave it in for about 10 minutes (don't worry, it won't melt). Pull it out and use a flathead screwdriver to pry the lens away from the assembly (and don't break any of those clips! they get soft while in the oven so be careful with them). That's it. Then do whatever painting and cleaning up you wanna do to the headlight and when you're done put them back together, run a new bead of clear silicone around the entire lens (leave the old silicone on there too), and set it back in the oven (pre-heated of course). make sure the lens is facing up because i didnt on one of mine and it fell in the oven and scared the sh*t outta me. LOL! After 10 minutes, pull the entire thing out and press the lens back on and snap the clips. I kept pressing down on mine for a minute or two to make sure there was a good seal, and then ran another bead of silicone around the lens for extra protection. Good luck!

i tried it with a hairdryer earlier today, and it was hard to pry apart because of the gooey mess haha. does the oven make it a lot easier?
