Default why does VTEC "use" oil?

My mechanic tells me that VTEC uses a little oil when it engages (blowby?) and that that accounts for some slight oil loss between oil changes. Have any of you experienced this, and is there a way to reduce or eliminate the oil loss?

Vtec will always burn some oil. Also revving to 9k will not help out. Learn to leave with it or sell the car.

An increase in valve lift (VTEC) does not consume more oil.

RPM's consume oil.

buy a bigger VTEC solenoid...this will make crossover MUCH louder and reduce oil consumption

Why not just port the stock one instead?

The distinctive VTEC "growl" when it engages would become louder? How? I always thought that sound resulted from the increased valve lift allowing a shitload more air through the intake ports. Unless the lift increases, how would the sound change?

No replacement for large capacity VTEC displacement.
