Default turbo?

i have a 92 hatch d16y7 non vtec, headers, exhaust, cold air, fuel pres. reg., msd ignition, i just rebuilt it, new pistons and rings, honed cylinders, seals and whatnot. it has about 12000-15000 miles on the rebuilt motor. Do i HAVE to get forged pistons for a turbo set up? is there a safe way to run, about 6 psi, without a complete tear down? what is the bare minimum i have to do to have a SAFE running car with a low cost install?

im not sure on how much single cams can handle stock, as in a number. I know that my b16 can handle 350 whp on stock block turbod, that means no forged pistons, no aftermarket rods, no new wrist pins, nothing.

Im sure your sohc can handle around 230-250 whp

And with a turbo, 'low cost' for a good kit still isnt cheap.

I plan to be spending around 3 grand on my kit

dont make your goals in forms of PSI, because different trim turbos push different amounts of air, providing for different power, at the same boost level.

So base your goals on horsepower etc.

GL with the single cam.

you dont need to build the block to run a turbo. The stock d16 block can handle 200-220 hp, depeding on the tune.
Bare minimum you need to do to go turbo is: bigger injectors (dsm 450s) or a set of high imp. 440cc or larger injector, of course the turbo, manifold, bov, wastegate.
Then we get to the ECU this will need to be chipped with crome or ectune. You can use other forms of control, AEM EMS, Hondata, stuff like that but its pricey.

There is other stuff, but ive been at work since 330 this morning, and i am drawing a blank now, this should get you started in the right direction. and as always do your research on it
