I am looking to get one but I don't have a garage. Should I be worried since it's a ragtop? I was thinking of getting theft insurance. I also live in an upper middle class area. I know the seats, antennae, and steering wheel are targets as well as the car.

buy the car, get full coverage (i dont see why people dont get full coverage for their cars), get an alarm. take your antenna off or glue it on if you dont want it stolen

my car is parked in my garage usually, unless im driving it. if im going inside somewhere for less than 10 minutes, i leave the top down.

On the side parking lot of my apartment boxed in by my other car. Apartments offer no garages so I'm stuck outside.

don't get one until you can garage it. Upper/middle class area doesn't mean anything unless if you live in a gated area. Don't you think theives can drive around looking for cars? The truth is, there's no way to fully secure it. and yeah get full coverage but if you're looking for a hassle free and practical car.. I'd suggest a civic until you have a garage or a means to protect it.

However, if you decide to ignore the suggestions and get one anyways. (Most of us would) make sure you take every precaution neccessary to protect it. I think a hardtop deterr's thieves, but at the same time it's another 2000$ just sitting there.

Gated community in a garage and then at school in the parking garage.

i parked mine out back of my apartment. 1 month later it was keyed all to hell and someone cut all 4 of my tires. apparently the s2000 stole some [freak]ers girlfriend. don't buy an s2k if you can't afford to have full coverage- that would be stupid.

i now park it in a gaited locked parking lot half a block away from my apt. not having a garage to park it in would be the most retarded reason not to buy one. they are cars. they will get rained on, the sun will shine on them, etc. if you are worried about the rag top wearing out then buy a vinyl top cleaner and conditioner. wax the paint every once in a while. problem solved. I don't understand when people think these cheap sports cars have to be garage queens.

goodluck!

you fools act like you are parking a $150,000 car outside. At its prime, it is a 30k car. Who gives a **** where it sits. I park mine outside, in parking lots, under trees, and sometimes if I am in the mood it gets the car cover put on. On top of that I carry full coverage, so I could give a rats *** if someone steals it. I just repeat process and buy a new one.

it's a tough call. My neighbors have MLs, S classes, AMG benzes, H3 hummers sitting outside. That is like 30% of my neighborhood. The other cars outside are like american SUVs, accords, camrys, civics, and the occasional beater. I would feel bad for leaving it outside but I would definitely get full coverage on a car like this. I still have to wait and see. I can always stick to my nondescript sedan for now. The s2k looks like a very fun car. Thanks everyone.

I feel your pain. So you're saying that because of the s2k, it helped you steal some other guy's girlfriend. I hope you had full coverage. Take care man and be safe out there.

no i'm saying the car got messed with probably because of some ***** or punk guy. it sucked but i came out on top- new paint and new tires for $125 after i worked out a deal with the paintshop and my insurance check. the car needed painted anyways so it helped me out a lot. i wish they had cut the top and broken the windshield to but i didn't get that lucky. I don't think it got messed with specifically because it's an s2000. regardless, thanks to insurance it's better off now than it was before. i would never be afraid to buy a car though because of vandalism or theft. you get a huge check if something happens and if you're smart you can make some money by fixing things yourself lol

it's not about the price of car, i keep my pos beater in excellent mech/apperance condition.

if you ask me it's about my altitude toward things, some people just dont get it. some people will ask why clean up your tool after you use it? or why make the bed in the morning? if you are those people you will never understand why.

If I didn't live in a good town I would make sure its in side every night. Even if you have full coverage would you wanna go threw all the trouble of getting things fixed when you could of prevented the problem.

I wouldnt worry a whole lot because I have full coverage and I dont keep anything with sentimetal value in the car... but its the small **** that would suck. Stuff thats too small to be worth the deductible...
