I have a B18b Swapped into my 88 hatch. I have everything hooked up and its ready to start, but when i put the battery in (with jumpers on, figured the battery was dead) the cd player, and guage lights came on, (and the check engine light came on and then turned off, like it was before with the old engine.) I can here the fuel pump engage, but when i turn the key it doesnt turn over or anything, you can kind of here clicking, is the battery just F*D or is something not hooked up correctly?
One of my buddies said starter problems, but you can here some clicking so im thinking its ok, if you have any idea whats going on please let me know, Thanx for your help
Peace.

Two things can cause "the click". one - not enough battery power. there could be enough power to light up the dash and engage the solenoid (thats the click) but not enough to turn the starter motor. two - the contacts for the starter motor have gone bad, so its the same situation, the solenoid activates, but the motor doesnt.
if the problem is the later, tap the starter with a hammer while someone is holding the key in the "start" position. this usually frees up the contacts and lets the motor spin. but make sure you have enough juice first....

the clicking your hearing may just be the main relay. check your grounds and make sure you didn't miss any. valve cover to front cross brace, chassis to trans clutch cable mount, and any other ones i cant think of lol.
also make sure you have the signal wire on the starter. and absolutely check your grounds. i saw a guy melt his speedo guage in a 93 gsr because the only ground for the motor was the speedo cable... bad news.
