Default help! learn me about the 1998-2002 accord coupes

I've always been a fan of those and now with $4 a gallon gas and no end in sight I was thinking of getting one for a daily driver since the 12 mpg in my Wrangler SUCKS!


I was looking at the 4cyl w manual tranny.

What kinda engine do they have? What would be best for MPG and turboing? SOHC or DOHC.

if it has SOHC, which some pictures suggest, how hard is a DOHC engine or head swap..

the 6th gen accord comes w/ f23a1 VTEC (SOHC only) 5spd, i think the non-VTEC is an f23a4 or 6??? im not certain but its a 2.3 liter...as far as gas mileage im guessin 30-35mpg??? mines prolly in the high 20's

and swappin to a DOHC i heard is easy, several accords in 6thgenaccord.com already have the dohc h22 motor on the f23 tranny (called g23) i was gonna do it later on too

but yea, if you did more research it woulda been faster, go to cardomain.com and check it out, or go to (perfect site -----&gt6thgenaccord.com and go to the members' ride forum

If you do a search for "New Frankenstein Engine = G23 (F23/H23 write-up link)" here on H-T you will find one very detailed thread by PirateMcFred about the build. It is not a complete H22 swap. It is the process of swapping the DOHC Non VTEC H23/F22B head onto an F23 block. Just to clear that up...

Oh and one more thing. As soon as you start ripping apart a fuel conscious & economical engine like the F23 and start putting gas guzzling performance parts on it. That makes it not so fuel conscious or economical any more. If your worried about $4/gal gas drying up your bank account I would stick to a stock California emissions F23A4 ULEV. That would probably be your best bet for an Accord. And no Turbo!
