Default ok two quick questions.......

1 .im blowing oil....really bad to where it seems like i put a quart of oil in with every stop at the gas pump....im guessing rings/valves??? theres oil you can wipe offa my back bumper it aint leaking

2. theres a hole the size of a dime in my lower portion of the exhaust manifold....im getting headers soon but wanna make sure this isnt going to cause internal damage (as i know open headers does)

Have a leak down test performed at a decent garage to see how healthy your motor is....sounds like it needs a rebuild.

This is completely wrong. Where did you come up with that?

well my buddy whose got a 89 mustang ran open headers for a while then started bending valves.... he took it to a performance shop and the first thing they told him was to get a damn exhaust on his car because the open headers (somehow with the pressure or someting with his headers....) was destroying the valvetrain

When you run with open header for a long period of time you have a chance of bending valves due to cold air going through the header to quickly.i just reserched that online...i guess thats what the risk is... (he hadd an all out racer it could be different)

If the hot air, compression, explosions and high RPM aren't enough to bend valves, do you really think "cool/cold" air will? If there was any logic to this, everyone who sprayed nitrous would have bent valves.

Cold air does not and cannot physically bend a valve. Stay far away from that performance shop that gave that explaination. If he bent valves, it would have more to do with possibly floating them numerous times or more than likely piston to valve contact.

Incorrect. Valve springs control valve float, back pressure has nothing to do with it.

So is that why performance enthusiasts go for the smallest diameter exhausts. And people with the fart can exhausts are just doing it for fuel economy and not power?
