Default Help with building/tuning Gsr turbo

Hey guys i have some ?s i have searched and cant really find a clear answer. OK i have a gsr block with low compression pistons and forged rods. I have a gsr head with stainless steel valves and bronve valve guides and dual valve springs. The main ? is would i be able to run this setup with out a tune until i get a turbo pieced together. If I would what would be the best ecu p28 or p72 If not would would be the best way to go hondata emanage neptune crome

Ps kinda new to the whole chiped p28 thing can someone direct me to a thread

First, don't try to drive or start up the car if it's untune. Why wast some much money on the build and can't even wait for a tune. Tuning is the the key to safe, power, fun, and less head ache. P28,p72 would not matter if you have hondata, neptune, ectune. I'll stay away for crome, but it's pretty good for the money,--- (Free) but the timings in the cells are not that accurate.

If your trying to just run without the turbo, untune, with that low of compression?? umm I myself wouldn't because compression change how the fuel is going to burn. I say just wait.

To make it simple,

If the motor is not stock it needs to be tuned. If the compression ratio has changed to a lower compressions that means you may run rich and wash the rings out on your new motor. But the true way to tell is if you have a wide band. If your within the limitis then your good
I drove a Lsvtec motor with 9.1 c/r for 4 months before I tuned it. i ran it off my p72, but my motor was broken in as well. I drove it with the entire turbo set up on with stock injectors, I just didn't boost on it, just drove it normal and styed out of boost.
-disclaimer- I'm not advising you to do that, I just know how and have discipline not to boost.

I'm assuming you just built the motor for boost and now wonder if you can run it N/A until then. Yes, you can. Keep the stock injectors etc etc etc on the car and just use your stock ECU for the engine. It will work just fine until you can get the turbo and everything else bolted on.

IF you have changed injectors. Don't do this, you will risk washing out the rings.

Also, when you DO bolt your turbo setup on with larger injectors and all of that. You will need at the very least a compitent basemap in order to start the car. I suggest however that you have the car towed to your tuner and let them take care of the engine.

What i've always done is get a chipped ECU on Crome with a basemap for my injectors and setup. This way you can drive out of boost to wherever you need to get tuned. It generally isn't the best running setup at this point, but it gets you from point A to point B.

i did that once and didn't like it. It ran too rich. I would just do the stock injectors like the guy above said. Also With putting a basemap on a new motor you take a big chance in washing the rings out. I've done it.....it sucks
