motor mount and bolt size?

motor mount and bolt size?
Sorry, I bet theres a very simple answere but I dont have an old mount to compare it to. I searched but didnt find anything helpfull.
I ordered a new front motor mount and the corresponding bolts for it.
The (main) bolt that came for the mount is like 3/8 of an inch but the hole (on the mount) it goes through is about a 1/2 inch.
So my question is, is this right? is it supposed to be loose (I mean before tightening it)
Will the bolt be so tight that this discrepancy wont matter?
Or do I need some type of spacer in there, to keep it from moving?
