Anyone think a test pipe wil help save gas on an 0BD-1 Honda???
Anyone think a test pipe wil help save gas on an 0BD-1 Honda??? Test pipe or cat with OBD-1 wondering if you can save gas cuz of less restriction anbody?
I think you'd waste more gas because Honda's RnD department of trained automotive engineers know more about emissions controls and fuel economy than some guy with some straight pipe and a welder.
I'll leave it at that.

I ran an 0BD-1 civic EX with a test pipe and felt nothing i was just wondering if anyone had a different expirence then i did maybe in OBD-0
Test pipe will make your stock ecu run rich.
Don't do it if you want to save gas..
Save Gas = New plugs, plug wires if needed, how many miles is on your O2 sensor?, replace fuel filter, try running some seafoam/injector cleaner..

Please tell me how a test pipe would make you run rich? I need to know, because my thoughts were the 2nd o2 only took readings from the catalyst, and did 0 correction to the A/F readings.

This is true, however me personally I think the emission restrictions force vehicles to make great sacrifices to adhere to emission federal laws. Im sure they could probably make an engine more efficient if there werent as tight restrictions.
I look at it like our justice system. The liberal system prevents the police from doing an excellent efficient job protecting our nation, because felons have more rights than we do when tried

I don't see how it could make your car run rich unless the o2 sensor is located in the cat. I have a B16a2 w/ ITR 4-1 headers and run a straight pipe all the way back. No CEL, but the car does run rich, probably d/t bad tuning on Crome.
I was thinking about the secondary O2.. Sorry
