Default Running the A/C = revs drop lower

whats up with this?? When I'm driving my car (94 accord ex auto) With the A/C on, When it shifts gears, the rpms Are dropping lower then usual (id say about 100-300 lower then normal). I know the A/c puts more load on the engine, but It never used to drop low like that. It makes the car struggle to pick up speed in between gears, and the biggest reason *sniff It makes the car sound weird. only when the a/c is on, and it just started recently.

I'll be honest, thats a very open ended question. I have not seen nore driven you're car. But if I had to say something, (assuming the car is completely O.E.M.) I would investigate the compressor. It might make sense that if your compressor was starting to go bad (if not already) than with out you compensating manually(so to speak) while accellorating, in nuetral the motor is having a hard time keeping a compressor turning that may want to just seize up and die.

Like I said just an idea....
Just out of quriousity, does your gas mileage suffer more than usual now when you run your A/C?

I think my accord has always done this between shifts with the AC on (at least the last 80k since I'v owned it)...

Drag is drag and a motor should rev down faster when the drag of an AC compressor is applied. Its true that a bad/going bad comp will drag more though...

Since you have an auto, I would also consider the tranny... Perhaps its aiding by not shifting as fast due to age/needing flushed??? Just a thought. Most likely its just normal drag from the AC comp.

You're probably low on freeon or r135a so your ac compressor needs to work harder to keep pressures where they suppose to be at. Maybe need a ac recharge.
