Default New to cars, engines, everything...

I'm new to cars and I was wondering what are some good ways to learn about the different engines out there and ways to make some modifications to my car? Basically everything from the engine to the exterior. I have a '95 Civic and stock just doesn't cut it for me right now and in time I'd like to make it look nicer and actually have some power. So any suggestions or just any idea that could help me get to know my car better?

Buy a Haynes manual for your car. Read it, then read it again. Then come on here. And read some DIY faqs in the sticky at the top of this sub-forum. Then goto the Appearance and Cosmetic forums and go under the Builds sub-forum and look at those.
Then go out to your car and some little things that you dont have to spend money on. Learn to take your dash off or remove your seats/panels/etc, etc.

That should be a good start. Thats what I did.

Good luck!

I wanna keep most the work I'll eventually do under $6,000.

Alright cool, I'll look into getting a Haynes manual.
Thanks for the links, bookmarked them for later
