Default SPEEDO PROBLEMS

I have a 1990 honda accord with 83000 miles on it. I noticed 2 days ago that while driving at any speed the speedometer will read the speed and then all of a sudden drop off then bounce back up to the speed I am traveling. I hope anyone can give me a clue on what this may be, and what kind of price range I may be looking at if anyone may know. Thanks for your help, oh and sorry if this has already been posted I am new to this site and I am loving it so far thanks again

Assuming no CEL and cruise works, the cluster's speedo is bad. You'll want to replace the green circuit board on the back of the speedo.

Check Engine Light

Whole new cluster is easiest, just get it from ebay or junkyard and take it apart for the speedo part.

Yeah it's what I self diagnosed with my Accord when my speedo would randomly flutter and die.

I replaced the VSS thinking it was that, however my cruise worked and no CEL. Trouble shooting from that I went to the cluster.

Not wanting to change the mileage on the car I played around with it til I found the green circuit board is removable. Swapped the known working one on my car and no problems since.
